Astronomy for 2010

Well here it is 01-10-10. I've only been out observing with gear once since New Years day. I hate to sound like a sissy but man it's been cold here. I mean this isn't a lot of fun when you're shivering so hard that your teeth rattle. Fortunately, it won't last forever and there will be a period of nearly perfect conditions coming along here in the very near future. It's a period of time when the skies are clear and you can see forever. A time when the sun still goes down early enough to get out before bedtime, when the temperatures are warm enough that you don't have to carry around 40 pounds of extra clothes just to keep feeling your fingers and toes and a time before the buzz and bites of mosquitoes nearly make you go mad. I expect to have a few nights between now and then, but I'm really looking forward that little window.
